Erdenet is the second largest city in Mongolia, located about 240 kilometers northwest of the capital, Ulaanbaatar, at an altitude of about 1,300 meters above sea level. As the capital of the Orkhon Province, the city is famous for the Erdenet Mining Company, the world's fourth largest copper and molybdenum mine, and the development of mineral resources forms the backbone of its economy.
With a population of approximately 100,000, Ergun is an important industrial and cultural center of Mongolia. The city retains elements of traditional nomadic culture, while incorporating modern industrial features. The city hosts annual national festivals such as the Naadam, and the surrounding steppe landscapes and yurt camps demonstrate the typical steppe way of life.
The city is situated in the eastern foothills of the Hangai Mountains, surrounded by forest and grassland landscapes, with a pleasant climate in summer. The main attractions include the Ergen mine observation deck, the local museum and the traditional handicraft market, making it a unique destination for experiencing Mongolia's industrial culture and natural beauty.
Asmara, the capital of Eritrea, is located on the country's central plateau at an altitude of about 2,350 meters and has a pleasant climate that has been described as the "Italy of Africa". The city is a blend of Italian colonial architecture and local culture, with a large number of well-preserved modernist buildings, including futuristic churches, Art Deco theaters, and colorful homes. An example of early 20th century urban planning, its historic center was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017. Asmara is not only a political and economic hub, but is also known for its unique cultural scene and laid-back pace of life, and is a window to explore Eritrea's history and diverse civilizations.
