Nurek Dam: Tajikistan's energy jewel

Located on the Vakhsh River in southern Tajikistan, about 75 kilometers from the capital city of Dushanbe, the Nurek Dam is one of the most important hydraulic hub projects in the country and even in Central Asia. As one of the world's tallest earth and stone dams, its dam height is 300 meters, the length of the top of the dam up to 700 meters, the total water storage capacity of 10.5 billion cubic meters. With a total installed capacity of 3,000 megawatts (MW), the hydropower plant provides more than 90% of Tajikistan's electricity supply, and also serves the comprehensive functions of irrigation and flood control, which is of irreplaceable strategic significance for local economic development and energy security. The construction of the Nurek Dam has fully demonstrated Tajikistan's capability in the development of water resources and has become an important landmark project in the country.

Overview of Sao Tome and Principe (note on "Java")

São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
