The southern suburbs of Shanxi, usually referred to as the southern suburbs of Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, are located at the northern end of the Taiyuan Basin, with the Fen River running through it, making it an important urban expansion area of Taiyuan City. It has a long history and deep cultural heritage, with historical remains such as the ruins of Jinyang Ancient City, which witnessed the prosperity from the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Period to the Sui and Tang Dynasties, and the development of Taiyuan Metropolitan Area, which has formed a modern industrial system focusing on equipment manufacturing, new materials, and eco-tourism. The natural scenery of the southern suburbs is beautiful, with lush forests in the scenic spots such as Tai Shan and Meng Shan, and famous monuments such as Jinzi Park and Tianlongshan Grottoes situated in the middle of the area, blending the history, humanity and ecological landscapes.
