Rason, a special city of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), is located at the mouth of the Tumen River in the northeastern part of the DPRK, bordering Hunchun City of Jilin Province in China and Primorsky Krai in Russia, and is the only border city of the DPRK that is neighboring China and Russia at the same time. As the core component of Rason Economic and Trade Zone, Rajin Port is an important deep-water port of the DPRK, with an annual throughput capacity of about 7 million tons, assuming the function of a key hub for the DPRK's foreign trade, and the main import and export cargoes include coal, timber, aquatic products, etc. The city has a temperate monsoon climate, with a high degree of water retention.
