Muscatine is the county seat of Muscatine County, located in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Iowa, on the west bank of the Mississippi River. The city is known for its long history in the pearl button industry, and in the late 1800s was the world's leading center of freshwater pearl button production, known as the "Pearl Button Capital of the World". The local economy is now diversified into manufacturing, agriculture and logistics.
Muscatine is rich in natural and cultural attractions, such as the Pearl Button Museum on the Mississippi Riverfront, a historic commercial district, and annual festivals such as Riverfest. With a population of approximately 23,000 (2020 data), the city is characterized by riverfront recreation, fishing, and specialty agriculture (e.g., watermelon farming), combining a small-town atmosphere of life with the unique charm of industrial heritage.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
