Moyu County is located in the southern part of China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, belonging to Hotan Region, and is situated at the southern edge of the Taklamakan Desert. It has a total area of about 25,000 square kilometers and a population of about 500,000, mainly Uyghurs.
