Mount Pleasant is a historic city in Sanpete County, located in north-central Utah, USA. It is about 150 kilometers from the state capital, Salt Lake City, and is situated in the eastern foothills of the beautiful San Rafael Mountains, with an average elevation of about 1,800 meters above sea level.
Founded in 1859 by Mormon pioneers, the city retains a rich history of western pioneering. The downtown area is home to several buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, such as the Pioneer Museum, built in 1859, and a 19th-century stone house. The annual Pioneer Days celebration attracts many visitors to experience traditional western culture.
The economy of Mount Pleasant is based on agriculture and livestock, with extensive ranches and farms in the surrounding area. In recent years, it has gradually developed rural tourism and is known for its peaceful natural environment, skiing in the winter and hunting resources in the fall. With a population of approximately 3,500, the city maintains a typical small-town community atmosphere of the American West.
The city is surrounded by an abundance of outdoor recreational resources, including fishing on the Sampit River, hiking in Matilde Canyon, and the neighboring Manti-La Sal National Forest. With easy access to the nearby Skyline Drive snowy mountain viewpoint in the winter, it is one of Utah's key four-season destinations.

The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty and close to Mount Ramelau, Timor-Leste's highest peak, making it a stopover for hiking enthusiasts. A blend of traditional Timacu culture and modern townscape, Samu offers a unique look at the interior of Timor-Leste.
