Located in Malmö, an important city in the south of Sweden, Merklin Tower (Turning Torso) is the tallest building in the Nordic countries and an iconic symbol of modern Swedish architecture. Designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, the 190-meter-high skyscraper's unique twisting shape is inspired by the twisting posture of the human body.
Completed in 2005, the Merklin Tower is a 54-story building containing office space, luxury apartments and conference facilities. Each floor of the building rotates 1.6 degrees relative to the floor below, and the overall rotation is 90 degrees, an innovative structure that not only creates a dynamic appearance, but also demonstrates Sweden's leadership in the field of sustainable construction. The building is powered by renewable energy and has received several environmental certifications.
Situated along the Öre Straits, Merkeling Tower has witnessed Malmö's transformation from an industrial city to a center of the knowledge economy. It is connected to Copenhagen by the Øresund Bridge, a symbol of cross-regional cooperation. As the centerpiece of the redevelopment of Malmö's West Harbor area, the building attracts tourists and architecture enthusiasts from all over the world, and has become one of the most recognizable tourist attractions in Sweden's third-largest city.

Historically, Samu was an important stronghold during Timor-Leste's War of Independence, and remnants of the resistance movement still remain in the area, attracting history buffs to explore. The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty and close to Mount Ramelau, Timor-Leste's highest peak, making it a stopover for hiking enthusiasts.
