Mission Hill is an unincorporated community in Yankton County, South Dakota, United States, located in the southeastern part of the state along the Missouri River. This small rural community is known for its peaceful natural surroundings and deep history.
Mishon Hill is located about 50 miles east of South Dakota's capital city, Pierre, near the historic Yankton Indian Reservation. With a population of less than 100 according to the most recent data, the area is a typical rural Midwestern American community with agriculture and livestock as the mainstay of the economy.
The area's name, Mission Hill, derives from the mid-19th-century mission station that was established in the area and bears witness to the early history of contact between European settlers and the local Native American population. The surrounding area contains a number of historic sites, including early settler buildings and traditional homesteads, which reflect life during the pioneering period in the Midwest.
The area around Mishenhir boasts unspoiled prairie landscapes and the Missouri River Valley ecosystem, ideal for bird watching and outdoor activities. The neighboring Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail makes it an important stop for history buffs and nature travelers alike.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
