Overview of Mianxian County

Mianxian County is located in the southwestern part of Shaanxi Province in China, belonging to Hanzhong City. It is situated at the western end of Hanzhong Basin south of the Qinling Mountains and north of the Bashan Mountains, and it is an important corridor connecting Guanzhong and Sichuan. With a total area of 2,406 square kilometers and a population of about 400,000, Mianxian is predominantly Han Chinese, and is known as the "Little Jiangnan of Northwest China".

History and Culture

Mianxian County, known as "Shinyang" in ancient times, has a history of more than 2,300 years and was a major military town of Shu Han during the Three Kingdoms period. The Dingjun Mountain in Mianxian is the military base of Zhuge Liang's Northern Expedition, and the relics of the Three Kingdoms, such as the Wuhou Tomb and the Wuhou Shrine, have been listed as national key cultural relics protection units, attracting a large number of history and culture enthusiasts to come on pilgrimage every year.

Natural Resources

The Han River and its tributaries run through the county, with over 60% of the area covered by forests, producing tea, Chinese herbs and other specialties.
