McFarland is a small city in the Wabaunsee County subdivision of the U.S. state of Kansas, located in the northeastern part of the state. According to the 2020 census data, there are only about 200 residents in the area, making it a typical rural community. The city is located about 30 miles from the state capital of Topeka, and the surrounding area is dominated by agricultural landscapes and natural beauty.
Founded in the late 1800s and named after an early settler, McFarland was historically based on railroad transportation and agriculture as the backbone of its economy. Today it retains a peaceful atmosphere of Midwestern living, with the Connecticut River running nearby for outdoor activities such as fishing and hiking. The city is small but has a good infrastructure, with easy access to neighboring towns via major highways.
The climate is continental, with four distinct seasons of cold winters and warm summers. McFarland represents the typical characteristics of a rural Kansas community - low population density, strong community ties and traditional Midwestern American values.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
