Located in the southern part of the U.S. state of Texas, McAllen is one of the core cities of the Rio Grande Valley, just about 10 miles from the Mexican borderline, and is part of the Hidalgo County county seat. This multicultural city of approximately 140,000 people is known for its vibrant cross-border trade, agriculture and tourism. Thanks to its location, McAllen is an important hub for U.S.-Mexico trade, has a strong manufacturing and logistics industry, and is known as the "Winter Garden of Texas" for its abundance of citrus, vegetables, and other agricultural products. In addition, the city has abundant natural ecological resources, such as the McAllen Nature Center, a paradise for bird-watching enthusiasts; the unique integration of Chicano culture is also reflected in the local food, festivals and art, forming a unique border flavor. With a relatively low cost of living and friendly neighborhoods, McAllen is one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in Texas.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
