Mayahi is a town in south-central Niger, about 300 km southeast of the capital city of Niamey, and belongs to the Maradi Region, which is one of the important agricultural and commercial centers in the region. With a predominantly savannah climate and distinct wet and dry seasons, the inhabitants are mostly engaged in traditional agriculture, mainly cultivating millet, sorghum, peanuts and other crops, with a certain proportion of animal husbandry. As an area inhabited by the Hausa people, Mayahi retains a strong traditional Nigerian culture, with daily communication in Hausa and a vibrant marketplace for the distribution of agricultural products.
