Mariehamn, the capital and only city of the Finnish Aland Islands, is located in the southern part of Finland on the Baltic Sea and is the political, economic and cultural center of the autonomous region. As the smallest city in Finland, it has a population of about 12,000 and the official language is Swedish. The city is known for its peaceful seaside scenery and unique maritime culture, with many well-preserved wooden buildings, a maritime museum and historical landmarks such as Mariehamn Castle. The economy is based on shipping, tourism and agriculture, and the city attracts a large number of tourists in the summer to enjoy the sun, sand and sea activities, making it an ideal place to experience the slow Nordic life.
Lai'an County is located in the eastern part of China's Anhui Province, under the city of Chuzhou, at the junction of Suzhou and Anhui provinces, and to the east of Luhe District of Nanjing. With a total area of about 1,481 square kilometers and a population of about 500,000, the county enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate with four distinct seasons. Lai'an has a long history, having been founded during the Southern Dynasties, and is rich in cultural heritage and natural landscapes, such as the Egret Island Ecotourism Zone and the former site of the Half Tower Battle of Defense. The economy is based on agriculture, manufacturing and tourism, producing agricultural products such as rice and oilseed rape, and in recent years, it has been actively developing new energy and electronics industries. Convenient transportation, Ningluo Expressway and a number of national highways run through the whole territory, and it is only an hour's drive from Nanjing Lukou Airport, which is an important node city in the integration of the Yangtze River Delta region.
