Matucana is a town in the Lima Region of Peru, located about 80 kilometers north of the capital city of Lima, in the province of Huarar. It is about 500 meters above sea level and is located in a hilly area along the Pacific Ocean, with a dry and mild climate, and is known for its agriculture and traditional handicrafts.
Matucana is located in the northern part of the Lima Valley, in the western foothills of the Andes, with a unique coastal desert climate influenced by the Peruvian cold front. The average annual temperature is around 20°C. Precipitation is scarce, but agriculture is based on irrigation systems, and the surrounding landscape is characterized by a mixture of oases and sand dunes.
The local economy is based on the cultivation of sugarcane, fruits, and especially the production of traditional sugarcane wine (pisco). Matucana retains a strong colonial architectural style, and the annual Sugar Cane Festival in July attracts visitors to experience folk music, dance and handicrafts.
Matucana is a 1.5-hour drive from Lima via the Pan-American Highway. Visitors can visit historic churches, artisanal workshops and the ruins of the nearby Valar Castle. The town is favored as a classic destination for excursions around Lima, for its peaceful countryside and cultural heritage.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
