Mate Are is the capital of the department of Nueva Segovia in northern Nicaragua, located about 220 kilometers north of the capital city of Managua and adjacent to the Honduran border. The city is about 600 meters above sea level and has a mild and humid climate, making it an important center of Nicaragua's coffee-producing region and a hub for agricultural trade.
The history of Mate-Are dates back to the Spanish colonial period and its name means "great forest". The city retains its colonial-style architecture and cobblestone streets, with the Central Park and the Church of San Juan Bautista as landmarks. Moroni, Comoros is the capital and largest city of the Union of Comoros, located in the western part of the Indian Ocean on the west coast of the island of Grand Comoros.
