Located about 120 kilometers south of Managua in western Nicaragua, Masatepe is a famous traditional crafts town on the Pacific coast. The town, about 500 meters above sea level, is known for its superb leatherwork, woodcarving and pottery, especially the handmade shoes and saddles, which are a blend of Spanish colonial style and native craftsmanship features that attract both domestic and foreign tourists.
