Marivan is a border city in the Iranian province of Kurdistan, uniquely situated in the western part of the country adjacent to the Iraqi border, at an altitude of about 1,320 meters above sea level, with a mild and mountainous climate. The city has a predominantly Kurdish culture with a population of about 100,000 and an economy that relies on agriculture, animal husbandry and border trade. Marivan is steeped in history and boasts several natural attractions such as Lake Zarivar and the surrounding mountains, making it a popular destination for trekking and eco-tourism. In recent years, the region has also come under scrutiny due to the complex security situation, but still retains a wealth of traditional customs and friendly folklore.
Located in the northern part of Nantou County, Taiwan Province of China, Puli is situated in the geographic center of Taiwan and is known as the "Heart of Taiwan". This mountainous basin of about 400-500 meters above sea level is famous for its mild climate, high-quality water and rich produce.
Puli is an important agricultural area in Taiwan, producing wild rice shoots, passion fruit, roses, and other crops, and is also famous for the Shaoxing wine produced by the Puli Distillery. The area is rich in cultural assets, including the Taiwan Geographic Center Monument, Puli paper making, butterfly crafts and other specialty industries, while preserving the culture of the Bazai and other aboriginal people.
As an important gateway to well-known scenic spots such as Sun Moon Lake and Qingjing Farm, Puli combines humanistic heritage and natural scenery, making it an important destination for exploring the characteristics of central Taiwan.
