Marília is located in the northwestern region of the state of São Paulo in southeastern Brazil, about 440 kilometers from the state capital, São Paulo. Founded in 1929, the city currently has a population of around 240,000 and is one of the economic and cultural centers of the region.

With an area of about 23.8 square kilometers and a resident population of more than 150,000, the town is known for its electronics manufacturing, hardware and plastic industries, and is one of the important manufacturing bases in Dongguan.
