Maraita is a municipality in the department of Francisco Morazán, Honduras, located about 30 kilometers southeast of the capital city of Tegucigalpa. The region is located in the tropical highlands, with an average elevation of about 900 meters above sea level, and is known for its mild climate and rich natural landscape.
Surrounded by cloud forests and coffee plantations, Maraita has an annual precipitation of about 1,200 millimeters and an average annual temperature of 22 degrees Celsius. The surrounding area boasts natural attractions such as the La Paz Waterfalls, an ideal location for observing tropical birds and trekking.
The local economy is based on coffee farming, animal husbandry and tourism. The inhabitants are mostly Mestizos, who retain traditional handicraft-making practices. The annual municipal festival held in January includes folk dances and demonstrations of local cuisine.
The town is connected to the capital via the CA-6 highway, which is about an hour's drive away. Visitors can visit colonial churches, local coffee estates, or go on an eco-adventure to the nearby La Tigra National Park.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
