As one of the oldest cities in the Gulf region, Manama blends tradition and modernity: the Old Town with the Bahrain National Museum and traditional bazaars such as the Mattock Market highlights its historical heritage, while the Central Business District with its high-rise buildings and concentration of international banks and corporations reflects its status as a regional financial hub. The city's climate is hot and dry, with hot and humid summers and mild winters. As a multicultural hub, Manama attracts a large number of expatriates and serves as an important window to the world for Bahrain.
