Mayoa is the capital of the province of Palena in the Los Lagos region of southern Chile, located on the east coast of the main island of the Chiloé Archipelago, facing the Gulf of Corcovado. The city is an important gateway to the Patagonia region of southern Chile and is surrounded by temperate rainforest and volcanic landscapes.
Mayoa is located in a temperate maritime climate zone at 42°S, with abundant annual rainfall and dense vegetation. The city is surrounded by natural landscapes such as the Honopilon Volcano and the famous Corcovado National Park nearby, with its unique biodiversity and primary forest resources.
As an agricultural and fishing center, Mayoa's economy is dominated by salmon farming, forestry and tourism. The region retains strong Chiloé cultural traditions and is known for its timber-framed churches and palafito (water stilt houses) architecture. The Mayoa Music Festival, held every February, is an important cultural event in southern Chile.
Visitors can tour the World Heritage Chiloé church complex, sample authentic seafood cuisine, or take a boat trip to Corcovado Bay to see sea lions and penguins. The city is also an important stopover on the way to Pumalín Park and the Keraték Glacier for ecotourism and outdoor adventures.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
