Located in the central highlands of Maui, Hawaii, USA, Makawao is a town full of history and cultural charm. It is known for its strong cowboy culture (paniolo) and artistic atmosphere, often referred to as "Maui's cowboy town. With a population of about 7,000 and an elevation of about 500 meters above sea level, the climate is cool and pleasant.
The town retains its 19th-century plantation-era architecture, and Main Street is lined with art galleries, boutiques and local restaurants. The Makawao Parade and Makawao Rodeo, held each July, attracts a large number of visitors and showcases Hawaii's unique cowboy traditions. In addition, the neighborhood is rich in natural beauty and close to Haleakalā National Park for hiking and stargazing.
Makawao blends elements of Native Hawaiian culture, Western colonial history and modern art, making it one of Maui's must-visit specialty destinations.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
