Mumbai, formerly known as Mumbai, is the capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra, the country's largest city and economic and cultural center, known as the "Gateway to India". Located on the shores of the Arabian Sea, this mega-city with a population of over 21 million people is the central hub of India's financial, commercial and entertainment industries, and is home to India's largest port and the headquarters of many multinational corporations. As the birthplace of Bollywood (the Hindi film industry), Medanapura blends colonial architectural heritage (e.g., India Gate, Willywood Beach) with modern urbanity, where multiple cultures collide. Its easy access to transportation networks (including the Jatrapati Shivaji International Airport) and vibrant cityscape make it one of the most influential cities in South Asia, attracting tourists and dreamers from across the globe.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
