Green Island is located off the coast of Taitung County, Taiwan, China, and is the fourth largest dependency island in Taiwan, with an area of about 15 square kilometers. The island is made up of volcanic rock and boasts unique sea features, coral reef ecology and world-class undersea hot springs, Asahi Hot Springs. As a popular tourist destination, Green Island is known for its diving activities, human rights culture memorial parks and historical sites.
With a visibility of 20-30 meters, the waters around Green Island are rich in coral communities and tropical fish, making it an internationally renowned diving destination. The island is equipped with humanistic landscapes such as the Green Island Lighthouse and the Human Rights Memorial Park, and at the same time retains the appearance of a traditional fishing village. The total length of the road around the island is about 20 kilometers, where you can ride to see the ecology of the Plum Deer, the wonders of the sea caves and the spectacular Pacific Ocean seascape.
It takes about 50 minutes to get to Green Island by boat from Taitung Fugang Fishing Port, and there are regular daily flights to and from the island. Locomotive rental services are available on the island, and the main settlement, Nanliao Village, has a concentration of dining and lodging facilities. The best season to visit is from April to October. It is recommended to arrange 2-3 days of in-depth experience of the island's ecology and culture.
