Luohe is located in the south-central part of Henan Province, in the middle of the plains of the eastern foothills of the Fuyushan Mountains and the Huaibei Plain, and is an important node city in the Central Plains Economic Zone. As China's first "food city", Luohe is home to famous food companies such as Shuanghui and Nanjiecun, and is known as the "capital of China's food industry".
Luohe has a long history of human activity as early as the Neolithic era, is the location of the Jiahu site, where the unearthed seven-note bone flute is known as the world's earliest playable musical instruments.
