Located in the central part of Yilan County, Taiwan, China, Luodong Township is the most densely populated industrial and commercial town in Yilan County. The town has a total area of about 11.34 square kilometers and is located in the southeastern part of the Lanyang Plain, about 60 kilometers from Taipei City. The Luodong River and the Dongshan River run through the whole area, forming a unique alluvial fan terrain.
The Luodong Night Market is one of the most representative sightseeing night markets in Taiwan, famous for such delicacies as mutton soup, baoxin vermicelli dumplings and three-star scallion pancakes. The town has important cultural and recreational facilities such as the Luodong Forestry Culture Park and the Luodong Sports Park, which have completely preserved the history of forestry development during the Japanese colonial period. As the transportation hub of Yilan County, Luodong Railway Station is an important node of the Northern Return Railway, connecting the transportation arteries of Taipei and Hualien.
With an average annual temperature of about 22°C and a humid, rainy climate, the town's agriculture is dominated by rice, vegetable and fruit cultivation. Modern industries, on the other hand, include commerce, services and tourism as the pillars of the economy, attracting a large number of tourists from home and abroad to visit the town every year.
