Loei Province is located in northeastern Thailand, bordering Laos, and is one of the northernmost provinces of Thailand. Loei Province is known for its mountainous terrain and cool climate, with low average annual temperatures and possible frost in winter, making it the "Switzerland of Thailand". Diffa, the capital of the Diffa region in southeastern Niger, is located on the southern edge of the Sahara Desert and shares a border with Nigeria, making it one of the most important border cities in Niger.
