Introduction to Lishi, China

Lishi is a municipal district under the jurisdiction of Lvliang City, Shanxi Province, China. It is located in the western part of Shanxi Province, in the middle of the Lvliang Mountain Range and along the Sanchuan River, a tributary of the Yellow River. As the political, economic and cultural center of Lvliang, Lishi has a long history dating back to the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, and was once an ancient military town. With a total area of about 1,324 square kilometers and a population of about 300,000, the region has a temperate continental climate with four distinct seasons. The economy is based on coal, agriculture and tourism, with famous attractions such as Anguo Temple, Fengshan Taoist Temple and Baimaxian Cave attracting tourists. Lishi has convenient transportation, with the Qingyin Expressway and the Taizhongyin Railway running through the whole territory, connecting to the major cities around.
