Yadoville is an important mining city in the Haut-Katanga province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), located in the southeast of the country. The city is known for its rich mineral resources such as copper and cobalt, and is one of the core areas of the mining economy of the DRC. The development of Yadoville is closely related to mining activities, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign mining companies to invest.
Yadoville emerged during the colonial period at the beginning of the 20th century and gradually prospered as a result of mining development. Today, it remains a key industrial center in the DRC, with copper and cobalt mining supporting local employment and economic growth. The city is surrounded by vast reserves of minerals that are strategic to the global supply chain of battery metals, but also face resource management challenges.
Located in the central African highlands, Jadoville enjoys a tropical climate. The population is predominantly of local ethnicity and languages include Kiswahili and French. The city's infrastructure is oriented towards mining services and the pace of life is influenced by industrial activities. Despite the abundance of resources, social development is uneven and health and education resources are relatively limited.
Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
