Lékana is one of the small and medium-sized towns of the Republic of the Congo (Congo-Brazzaville), located in the southern plateau region, in the Ogooué River basin. Agriculture is the mainstay of the economy, with the local population cultivating cassava, maize and peanuts, as well as small-scale fishing on the Ogooué River. The surrounding area is highly forested and rich in biodiversity, making it one of the most important areas for ecological conservation in Congo-Brazzaville. Despite its small size, Laikana retains the atmosphere of a traditional African town, where the simplicity of the people and the natural beauty of the landscape are a perfect match, attracting travelers in search of a pristine eco-experience. As a node connecting the southern countryside to the regional economy, Laikana plays a unique role in the local development of Congo-Brazzaville.
