Laurens is the county seat of Laurens County, South Carolina, United States, and is located in the Piedmont region of the northwestern part of the state. Named for Henry Laurens, an American Revolutionary War hero, the city has a rich historical heritage, including several buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, such as the Laurens County Courthouse and the Laurens Historic District.
The economy is dominated by manufacturing, agriculture and retail, with the logistics and healthcare sectors evolving in recent years. The city is surrounded by natural beauty, close to the Saluda River and several state parks for outdoor recreation. With a population of approximately 9,000, Laurens is known for its quiet community atmosphere and low cost of living, exemplifying the charm of a typical South Carolina small town.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
