Lakatoro is the capital and largest town of Malekula Province in Vanuatu, located on the east coast of Malekula, the second largest island in the country, bordering the Coral Sea in the Pacific Ocean. As the administrative center of the province, with a population of about 1,500, it is a small town, but a hidden jewel of the South Pacific due to its unique natural and cultural charms. Surrounded by lush rainforests, white coral beaches, and the iconic black volcanic coast, the town is rich in ecological resources and ideal for diving, bird watching, and experiencing aboriginal culture. The local economy is based on fishing, coconut farming and handicrafts, and the inhabitants speak mostly Bislama, French and English, blending Anglo-French colonization with Melanesian traditions in a simple and friendly atmosphere. For travelers looking to get away from the hustle and bustle, Lakatoro is the perfect gateway to Vanuatu's pristine island flavor.
Located on the northwest coast of Yunlin County, Taiwan Province of China, with the Taiwan Strait to the west, Mailiao is an important petrochemical industrial base in Taiwan. Famous for being the site of the Formosa Plastics Group's "Six Light Program", the Mailiao Industrial Park brings together a number of petrochemical-related enterprises, driving the local economy and becoming one of the core areas of Taiwan's petrochemical industry. In addition to industry, Mailiao also has coastal characteristics, with attractions such as the Mailiao Coastal Park and Wangkong Fishing Harbor, where you can enjoy the magnificent seascape and mangrove ecology. The local fishery and agriculture industries are supplemented by agricultural specialties such as wendan and peanuts, demonstrating the coexistence of traditional industries and modern industries.
