Lai'an County is located in the eastern part of China's Anhui Province, under the city of Chuzhou, at the junction of Suzhou and Anhui provinces, and to the east of Luhe District of Nanjing. With a total area of about 1,481 square kilometers and a population of about 500,000, the county enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate with four distinct seasons. Lai'an has a long history, having been founded during the Southern Dynasties, and is rich in cultural heritage and natural landscapes, such as the Egret Island Ecotourism Zone and the former site of the Half Tower Battle of Defense. The economy is based on agriculture, manufacturing and tourism, producing agricultural products such as rice and oilseed rape, and in recent years, it has been actively developing new energy and electronics industries. Convenient transportation, Ningluo Expressway and a number of national highways run through the whole territory, and it is only an hour's drive from Nanjing Lukou Airport, which is an important node city in the integration of the Yangtze River Delta region.
Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Despite its small size, Ruby epitomizes the serenity of the American countryside with its simple folk and distinctive Louisiana southern flavor.
