Kolwezi, an important city in the Katanga Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), is located in the southeastern part of the country in the heart of the Copperbelt, adjacent to the Zambian border, and is one of Africa's renowned mining centers. As a key node in the global copper and cobalt mining industry, the surrounding area is rich in high-grade copper and cobalt deposits, attracting a number of international mining companies, and the economy is highly dependent on the mining and processing of minerals, known as "Copper City". The city is about 1,500 meters above sea level and has a cool climate, with an average annual temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius, characterized by a tropical grassland climate. With a population of about 500,000, the city is a multi-ethnic settlement with French and Kiba as the main languages and a strong mining culture, but the infrastructure is still under development. Kolwezi is not only the economic pillar city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but also an important hub connecting the resource corridors of southern Africa, which is strategically important to the global supply chain.
