Kaolack is an important city in western Senegal, located in the south of the Gambia River, about 190 kilometers away from the capital Dakar, is the country's third largest city and the capital of the Fatick region. As a traditional trade center in West Africa, Kaolack has developed into a busy river port with the advantage of the navigation of the Gambia River and a major distribution center for peanuts, cotton and other agricultural products, and is known as the "Peanut Capital". The city is a blend of Islamic culture and modern commercial atmosphere, with historical landmarks such as the Grand Mosque, and its economy is based on fishing, agro-processing and trade.
