KANANUMA is located in the southern part of Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, and is a major transportation hub in the Kanto region, about 80 kilometers from Tokyo and about one hour from Shinjuku Station by limited express train. The city is known as the "Home of Japanese Paper" and has a thousand-year history of KANANUMA Washi, whose production techniques are listed as an important intangible cultural asset of Japan, and whose delicate texture is widely used in both traditional craftsmanship and modern design. KANANUMA has both historical and natural beauty, with monuments such as Shirokuji Park and Yakushiji Temple recalling the prosperity of the Edo period, and as the gateway to Nikko National Park, it is surrounded by famous hot spring resorts such as Nikko and Kinugawa. The cherry blossom season in spring and the autumn foliage season are particularly attractive, and local specialties such as "KANANUMA Soba" and "Strawberry Daifuku" are popular among tourists, making it a charming town with a blend of tradition and modernity.
Chikan is a municipal district under the jurisdiction of Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, China. Located in the western part of the Pearl River Delta and in the basin of the Tanjiang River, Chikan is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese as well as a historical and cultural town. With a long history dating back to the Ming Dynasty, Chikan is known as the "Lingnan Museum of Architecture" for its unique Lingnan Riding Building Complex and its ancient townscape that combines Chinese and Western elements.
The region's economy is dominated by manufacturing, trade and tourism, with rich cultural heritage, such as the Chikan Ancient Town and the former residence of Situ Meitang, attracting many tourists. Chikan is conveniently located near downtown Jiangmen and can be connected to the core cities of the Greater Bay Area, such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen, via highways and railroads.
As a hometown of overseas Chinese, Chikan has strong ties with overseas Chinese communities and is culturally diverse, blending traditional Lingnan customs with South Pacific elements. Local specialties such as Chikan roast goose and Chenpi duck are also popular.
