Karaji is a small town in the western part of The Gambia, about 20 kilometers east of the capital, Banjul, on the fertile plains along the River Gambia. The town's economy is based on agriculture, with peanuts, millet and maize in abundance around the area, and most of the local residents retain a traditional farming lifestyle. Though small, Karaji is full of West African life: brightly colored open-air markets selling fresh tropical fruits and handicrafts, and the sounds of mosques and children's playfulness make for a unique community melody. As a transportation link between the interior and the coast, Karaji also attracts tourists who come to experience the simplicity of rural culture, the nourishment of the Gambia River and the warmth of the local hospitality.
Located in the southern part of Azerbaijan, Satre District is an important administrative division of the country, known for its natural beauty and agricultural economy.
