Located on the southwestern coast of the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda, Port Pleasant is an important cruise ship port of call and tourist destination for the country. Surrounded by clear blue-green waters and white sandy beaches, the harbor is known for its excellent resort facilities and water activities.
Nestled in a deep-sea harbor on the southwest side of the island of Antigua, Pleasant Harbor enjoys a tropical maritime climate with an average year-round temperature of approximately 27°C. The dry season (December-April) is sunny and dry and is the peak season for tourism, while the rainy season (July-November) is occasionally characterized by brief periods of rainfall that are still suitable for sightseeing.
The harbor area is home to duty-free shopping malls, restaurants and bars where visitors can experience diving, sailing and beach relaxation. Nearby attractions include Nelson's Dockyard, a historic British naval base, and Mount Shirley with its panoramic views.
Pleasant Harbour hosts international cruise ships through St. John's Deepwater Harbour, approximately 20 minutes from the capital city of St. John's. It is also easily accessible by car or boat from Antigua's VC Bird International Airport.
Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Despite its small size, Ruby epitomizes the serenity of the American countryside with its simple folk and distinctive Louisiana southern flavor.
