Hobart (Jovellanos) is an important city in the Cuban province of Matanzas, located about 150 kilometers east of the capital Havana. Named after the 19th-century Spanish statesman, the Count of Hobart, the city is a commercial and transportation hub in the agricultural region of western Cuba, with a population of about 45,000 people.
Hovabo retains a strong colonial architectural style, with colorful Spanish houses and old churches visible around the central plaza. The cultural life of the area is heavily influenced by African and Spanish traditions, and the vibrant music festivals and dance events held each year make it an ideal place to experience Cuban folklore.
The economy is based on sugar and tobacco cultivation and animal husbandry, and the surrounding area is dotted with fertile farmland. Visitors can tour the remains of local sugar mills, experience farm life, or head to the nearby Camaguey Keys coast to enjoy the natural beauty. The city is well connected to Havana and Matanzas by rail and road, making it an important stopover for exploring western Cuba.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
