Located in the southwest of Shandong Province, China, Jining is an important center city in the southwestern part of Shandong Province, with 2 districts, 7 counties and 2 county-level cities under its jurisdiction, covering a total area of about 11,000 square kilometers, with a resident population of about 8.3 million.
Jining is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization, and is known as the "Township of Confucius and Mencius". Diffa, the capital of the Diffa region in southeastern Niger, is located on the southern edge of the Sahara Desert and shares a border with Nigeria, making it one of the most important border cities in Niger.
