Jianggan District is a former municipal district of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, located on the north bank of the Qiantang River, in the core area of Hangzhou, and is one of the traditional political, economic and cultural centers of Hangzhou.In 2021, with the approval of the State Council, Jianggan District merged with the lower part of the district to establish the new Shangcheng District, which is now under the jurisdiction of Shangcheng District in Hangzhou. Historically, Jianggan has been developed because of the Qiantang River, and has been a place where merchants and traders gather since ancient times, with a long tradition of commerce and trade as "the first dock on the Qiantang River".
