São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Yuping Dong Autonomous County is located in the eastern part of Guizhou Province of China, belonging to Tongren City, and is the only autonomous county of Dong nationality in China. With an area of 517 square kilometers and a population of about 150,000, Dong is the main ethnic group. Yuping has a long history and is known as the "hometown of the xiao flute", and its xiao flute production technology has been listed as a national intangible cultural heritage.
The place belongs to subtropical monsoon climate, beautiful mountains and rivers, the main attractions are Maoyang River, Bell and Drum Tower, White Water Cave Waterfall and so on. The economy is dominated by agriculture, tourism and specialty handicrafts, and products such as Yuping xiao flute, tea oil and Dong embroidery are well known throughout the country. The culture of the Dong people is profound, with unique folk activities such as wind and rain bridges, Dong songs, and the Samar Festival.
The transportation is convenient, with the Hukun High Speed Railway and Xiangqian Railway passing through the city, and only 50 kilometers away from Tongren Phoenix Airport, which is an important hub connecting Xiangqian and Guizhou. Yuping combines natural ecology and ethnic culture, and is an important destination for experiencing the Dong ethnic customs and the landscape of Qiandong.
