São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Yunlin County is located in the central and western part of Taiwan Island, bordered by Changhua County in the north, Chiayi County in the south, Nantou County in the east and the Taiwan Strait in the west. The terrain here is flat, with the Chianan Plain running across the whole area, giving rise to a wealth of agricultural products, such as the high-quality vegetables of the "Yunlin Urtica", the traditional sugar of the "Huwei Sugar Factory", and the unique flavor of the Gukeng Coffee, which has earned it the reputation of being the "Barn of Taiwan". The unique flavor of Gukeng coffee has earned Yunlin the reputation of "Taiwan's barn". Yunlin has a rich cultural heritage. The Chaotian Palace in Beigang Township is an important center of Taiwan's Mazu faith, attracting millions of believers to participate in the annual Mazu circumambulation, and cultural symbols such as the Budai Opera and the Huwei Longshan Temple also highlight local characteristics. In recent years, Yunlin has actively promoted agricultural transformation and tourism development, combining ecological resources and folk culture, and has become one of the representative areas for experiencing the charm of the countryside in central Taiwan.
