São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in the western part of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province, China, Yangbi Yi Autonomous County is situated at the junction of the Hengduan Mountains and the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, and is famous for its abundant production of high-quality walnuts, which is regarded as the "Hometown of Walnuts in China". The county is about 30 kilometers away from Dali City, sitting on the west side of Cangshan Erhai National Nature Reserve, with an average altitude of about 1600 meters, subtropical plateau monsoon climate, mild and pleasant in all seasons.
The ethnic cultures here are diversified, with the Yi, Bai and other minorities accounting for more than half of the total population, and traditional festivals such as the Torch Festival and the Year of the Yi have been preserved intact. There are natural and humanistic landscapes such as Shimen Pass, Cangshan Rock Painting, etc. The Yunnan-Burma Highway passes through the territory, which is an important node of the Tea and Horse Road. Yangbi walnut planting history of more than a thousand years, annual output of more than 10,000 tons of walnuts, the relevant industry chain is perfect, in recent years, combined with the development of eco-tourism characteristics of the rural economy.
After the 6.4 magnitude earthquake in Yangbi in 2021, the local government has accelerated the revitalization of the countryside and infrastructure reconstruction, and now it has become a destination for both ecological agriculture and ethnic culture tourism around Dali.
