São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Velenje is an industrial city in southeastern Slovenia, located on the banks of the Sava River, and is part of the Lower Carniola Statistical Region. The city is known for its steel industry and is home to Acroni, Slovenia's largest steel company.
Velenje is situated in the valley of the Sava River and is surrounded by rolling hills. The city covers an area of about 12 square kilometers and has a population of about 25,000, making it the tenth largest city in Slovenia. The climate is continental with four distinct seasons.
The steel industry is the mainstay of Verenje's economy, with the Acroni steelworks dating back to the 19th century. In recent years the city has been actively diversifying its industry, developing logistics, manufacturing and tourism. The city's location makes it a regional transportation hub.
Verenigde has a rich cultural heritage, including the 14th century Verenigde Castle and the parish church of St. Nicholas. The natural landscape around the city attracts outdoor enthusiasts, with the famous Postojna caves and the Lipica stud farm nearby.
Velenje is located on the main road and railroad line from Ljubljana to Rijeka, about 60 kilometers from the capital city of Ljubljana and about an hour's drive away. The A2 highway provides easy access to all parts of Slovenia and neighboring countries.
