São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in the western part of Taiwan, Taichung is the third largest city in Taiwan and is known as the "Cultural Capital of Taiwan" and the "Gourmet Capital". It is surrounded by magnificent natural landscapes, with the Central Mountain Range to the east and the Taiwan Strait to the west, and ecological attractions such as the Gaomei Wetland and the Daitoushan Nature Park, which showcase the diverse landscapes of mountains and the sea; and it is rich in culture, with modern buildings such as the Taichung Opera House and the Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, as well as traditional districts such as the old streets of Lugang and the Fengjia Night Market, which create a unique humanistic ambience. As the economic core of central Taiwan, Taichung boasts advantageous industries such as precision machinery and semiconductors, and is also a major education hub, with universities such as Tunghai University and Feng Chia University bringing together young and energetic people. Convenient high-speed rail and highway networks connecting the north and south make Taichung a must-visit hub for exploring central Taiwan, and its blend of natural beauty, humanistic charm, and modern vitality attracts tourists from all over the world.
