São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Segai is an important island in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands, located in the southwest Pacific Ocean, northwest of Guadalcanal. Covering an area of approximately 100 square kilometers, the island is characterized by volcanic terrain and dense tropical rainforests, surrounded by coral reefs and crystal clear waters.
The island of Segay is inhabited by indigenous Melanesians, preserving a unique tribal culture and traditional practices. The local people are known for their wood carving skills, especially in making war canoes and ceremonial wooden drums. During World War II, the waters around Segui were the scene of fierce naval battles, and historical relics remain today.
The island is rich in biodiversity, including rare birds and marine life. Visitors can experience activities such as diving for coral, visiting traditional villages and hiking the volcanic terrain. The Segai Airport is connected to the capital city of Honiara, making it an ideal destination for eco-tourism and cultural heritage exploration.
