São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Bastula is a small unincorporated community in the U.S. state of New Mexico, located in Torrance County in the north-central part of the state. Located near Estancia, the administrative center of the county, it is situated in the highlands of central New Mexico, at an elevation of about 1,900 meters above sea level, and has a semi-arid climate. With farming and ranching as the mainstay of the economy, the area is surrounded by mostly open grasslands and low mountainous terrain, with a sparse population and a peaceful community atmosphere. Nearby Bastula are state parks and nature preserves for outdoor activities such as hiking and stargazing. Transportation relies on a network of state and county highways, and the city of Albuquerque is about an hour away. The community retains the traditional southwestern cultural characteristics of New Mexico and typifies the experience of rural life and natural beauty.
