São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
New Kru Town is an important urban area in the city of Monrovia in the West African country of Liberia, located in the southeast of the capital city of Monrovia along the coastline bordering the Atlantic Ocean, and is one of the largest towns in West Africa. The town is named after one of Liberia's major ethnic groups, the Kpelle (Kru), whose inhabitants have historically made their living by sailing and fishing, and are known as a seafaring people's settlement in West Africa, where traditional boat building and sailing skills are still practiced today. With its dense population and strong community culture, New Kru Town is one of the most vibrant urban areas in Monrovia and an important hub for trade and fishing activities along the Liberian coast, attracting visitors with its unique maritime culture despite infrastructure challenges.
